Sixteen candles on the cake
He tossed that set of keys my way
Hopped in his old Chevrolet
Said, "Take it slow"
Past that Walmart hang a left
I slipped that clutch and held my breath
Cracked a smile and shook his head
And now I know
That bench-seat father-son advice
Was more than how to drive
Gave me the keys to life
Keep your big dreams in the windshield
Keep your heart on 10 and 2
Keep your wrong turns and your mistakes way behind in that rear view
Call your mama just to catch up
Keep a few friends you can trust
For when more than just your wheels get stuck
Keep a Bible in the truck
Only God knows what's ahead
You're bound to get lost now and then
Best road maps are words in red
They'll lead you home
He told me, "Don't be scared to pray
Don't stray from that King James
Don't ever lose your faith"
Keep your big dreams in the windshield
Keep your heart on 10 and 2
Keep your wrong turns and your mistakes way behind in that rear view
Call your mama just to catch up
Keep a few friends you can trust
For when more than just your wheels get stuck
Keep a Bible in the truck, oh
Keep a Bible in the truck (mm)
Keep it on the dashboard where you can reach it
So it's not too far when you need it
Keep your big dreams in the windshield
Keep your heart on 10 and 2
Keep your wrong turns and your mistakes way behind in that rear view
Call your mama just to catch up
Keep a few friends you can trust
For when more than just your wheels get stuck
And the words you got just ain't enough
Keep a Bible in the truck (mm)
Keep a Bible in the truck
Sixteen candles on the cake
I'll toss those keys to Asher James
To that same old Chevrolet
Take it slow
