I liked drinkin' whiskey back when drinkin' whiskey
Didn't come with somethin' to drown
I liked Friday nights back when Friday nights
Meant that we were paintin' the town
I liked sad songs 'til I was livin' one
I liked highways 'til you were hittin' one
I liked angels 'til I was missin' one, missin' one
I liked lovin' you back when lovin' you
Wasn't breakin' my heart
Nothin' I can do, God, what I wouldn't do
To take it back to the start, back to the start
I liked talkin' to my friends when talkin' to my friends
Wasn't talkin' 'bout us
And I liked callin' you back when callin' you
Meant that you'd pick up
I liked this house when it was still a home
I liked holdin' you when you felt close
I liked it all more than you'll ever know
Guess you'll never know
I liked lovin' you back when lovin' you
Wasn't breakin' my heart
Nothin' I can do, God, what I wouldn't do
To take it back to the start
Back when it was simple, back when you were mine
Back when love was easy, didn't even have to try
Back when we were somethin' nothin' else could tear apart
God, what I wouldn't give to take it back to the start
I liked lovin' you back when lovin' you
Wasn't breakin' my heart
I liked loving you back when lovin' you
Wasn't breakin' my heart
Nothin' I can do, God, what I wouldn't do
To take it back to the start
Nothin' I can do, God, what I wouldn't do
To take it back to the start
I liked lovin' you back when lovin' you
Wasn't breakin' my heart
